Our Story

High Point Wellness Counseling officially opened our doors in May 2017 but our story began long before that. We started as just two sisters who dreamed of one day growing up and owning a therapy practice together (we're still working on the growing up part!). In 2017 the stars aligned and we both found ourselves back in PA with a clear vision of the therapy services we wanted to offer in our community. We felt the importance of tailoring mental health support to the unique individual with a focus on their overall wellness.

Common Questions

We are here to help. If you don't see the answer to your question please reach out and ask.
Do you accept my insurance?

We are in-network with many commercial insurance plans (Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Compsych, Highmark, Lyra, Meritan, Quest, Trustmark). Additionally, if your insurance plan isn’t listed on our website, we may still be in-network, as many companies carve out their mental health benefits to plans we do accept. If you are uncertain, feel free to email us with pictures of your insurance card and we will double check for you.

How much will I pay per session?

Before starting therapy at High Point, we verify your benefits to give you an estimate of your in-network copay/deductible costs per session. If you are not using insurance, you would be informed of our out of pocket costs before scheduling.

What are the benefits of not using my insurance?

Some of our clients decide to not use insurance for sessions to eliminate some of the headaches that can come with insurances’ involvement. Session frequency/duration limitations, billing inconsistency/unexpected issues, and a required diagnosis are a few reasons why clients may opt out of using in-network insurance.

What forms of payment are accepted?

We currently accept session payments through Venmo, Credit/Debit/HSA, or Cash/Check (for in-person sessions only). Payment is required at the time of service.

Can I still be seen at High Point if they are out of network with my insurance?

Absolutely! We are happy to provide a receipt of session payment that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential out of network reimbursement.

How do I get matched with a therapist at High Point?

After you reach out to us, we will assist you in getting matched with the best fit therapist.  This may include reviewing each therapist's bios for specialties, age range, and therapeutic techniques used.  We also consider scheduling options like availability that matches and if there is a preference for in-person or virtual sessions.

Do you offer phone consultations?

Yes! We are able to offer a 10 minute free phone consultation with your potential therapist.  This can allow you to ask questions about the therapist’s experience and style to help determine if they are a good fit. If you are hoping to gain insight on your specific therapeutic needs or goals right away, we recommend that you start with a regular intake session.

What age range do you work with?

High Point works with clients as young as 5 years old. Each therapist specializes in certain age groups that are listed in their bios.

How often will I meet with my therapist?

The frequency of sessions is determined by the therapist and client together. In the beginning of the therapeutic relationship, weekly sessions are typically recommended. Once momentum is built, a client and therapist may decide to lessen frequency to biweekly or monthly. Additionally, if you are experiencing a particularly difficult period of time, you may increase your sessions to 2x/week for a short time.

I would like my loved one to go to therapy but they aren’t willing to, what can I do?

Sometimes a child or partner is unwilling or resistant to participating in therapy. In our therapeutic setting, we have found that therapy is typically ineffective if the individual is being “forced” to attend. In these cases, we encourage the parent or participating partner to pursue therapy for themselves. This can allow for support and creative collaboration in the unique situation.

My child is nervous for their first session, am I able to join in the beginning?

Especially with our younger clients, they may feel more comfortable at first to have a caregiver present in session. Once the client is more comfortable with the therapist and the session structure, the goal would be for the client to be in the sessions by themselves for the majority of the time. This allows for the client to be the one engaging in the session instead of referring to the caregiver for feedback or answers. In many instances, the child therapist will invite the caregiver to join a portion of the session on a monthly basis to provide feedback and updates on goals.

Do you offer in-person and virtual sessions?

Yes! Our in-person sessions take place in our office suite at our Blue Bell location. Virtual sessions can take place in any space that provides privacy for sessions.

How do I log into my virtual session?

Your therapist will provide a link to log on to your virtual session before you’re scheduled to meet. The therapist will inform you of which HIPAA compliant platform will be used (Google Meet, Zoom, EMDR).

Can my therapist provide a letter about our treatment?

When applicable, a therapist is able to provide a letter of treatment summary that can be used for various circumstances (school/living accommodations, medical procedures, disability, emotional support animal).

What if I’m interested in exploring medication options?

Medication is not required to participate in sessions but if this is an option you are interested in, please discuss it with your therapist. We have a handful of community referrals that we can provide based on your individual needs.

Do you provide psychiatric evaluations and formal diagnoses?

No, but we are happy to direct you to providers in the community that can provide these services.

Do you offer family and couples sessions?

Yes! We have therapists that specialize in these areas.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions run 45-55 minutes long. There are certain instances where a longer session would be beneficial (EMDR, couples/family sessions) and this can be discussed with your therapist.

How do I sign up for group sessions?

Check out our group session tab for what is currently offered. Contact us if you have any questions or if you are interested in signing up. If you don’t see a group that you are interested in, we are always open to suggestions for future groups.

What should I do if I’m in crisis?

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or crisis, please call 911 or 988, call Montco Mobile Crisis at (855) 634-4673, or go directly to your nearest emergency room.

What is your cancellation policy?

One of our goals as a practice is to be able to help as many clients in our community as possible. In order to do that, we require all clients to provide at least 24 hours notice if they need to cancel their scheduled session.  This advance notice allows the therapist to offer that session to someone else who may be waiting. A full explanation of our cancellation policy is highlighted in our informed consent agreement that’s signed before sessions begin.  Our therapists also review the policy during the initial intake session.  Our policy is not there as a punishment, as we understand that sometimes unavoidable things come up, but it is in place to protect our therapists’ time and to give other clients who are waiting, the opportunity to be seen.

Do you offer sessions on evenings and weekends?

Absolutely! We understand that “off hour” sessions are highest in demand. We are able to offer sessions in the early mornings, evenings, and throughout Saturdays and Sundays.

Where are you located?

Our address is 1717 Swede Road, Suite 212 in Blue Bell. There is an off-street parking lot adjacent to the office building. Our suite is located on the second floor and there is an elevator in the building.

How do I refer a friend or family member who is interested in therapy at High Point?

We love receiving internal referrals from clients who have had exceptional experiences at High Point.  Please direct your friends/family members to reach out by filling out the online “Contact us” form. Thank you for suggesting our therapists!!
